Cambiasso Set To Extend Leicester Stay

Leicester City midfielder Esteban Cambiasso is reportedly set to sign a one-year contract extension with the club in a dramatic U-turn.

The highly decorated Argentine, 34, is understood to have originally preferred a move abroad to seek a new challenge but it appears Leicester manager Nigel Pearson has managed to persuade Cambiasso to stay in the East Midlands.

Pearson will offer the former Real Madrid and Inter Milan man a coaching role next July as part of his bid to keep him at the club with his contract expiring at the end of the month.

Cambiasso played a crucial role in Leicester City’s Premier League survival last season scoring five goals and adhered himself amongst the Foxes fans after being voted Player of the Season in May.

It is understood Cambiasso turned down a big-money offer from fellow top flight outfit West Ham just days ago and there remains several interested parties from the MLS in America.

Rumours surfaced this week that the Argentine has re-enlisted his daughter to Leicester Grammar School for another year and Cambiasso has openly talked about his new found love for his current club so the news wouldn’t be entirely unexpected.

Leicester players and fans have been urging him to stay at the King Power for the last month but it’s manager Nigel Pearson who appears to have thrown Cambiasso the trump card he most desired.
